Blurb:
They were the Guardians, sixteen special men and women with incredible powers. They lived on a world that, eons ago, had suffered a devastating plague that had rendered more than half its population unable to reproduce. In order to assure the survival of their species, the HandFast law was enacted. Every month, twenty couples, complete strangers, were drawn by lottery—couples whose sole purpose would be to procreate.

It was a cold and impersonal law, but it worked. When StarLight and Master Hunter heard their names called out to be HandFasted, their neat, orderly lives were turned upside-down. Gone was the comfortable companionship and brother-sister working relationship. Now they were forced into an intimacy neither had wanted, nor expected.
Neither were they prepared for the overwhelming passion they would find in each other's bodies, as well as in their hearts. But things would only get more complicated and dangerous, because someone had deliberately placed their names in the lottery as the first step in destroying their world and every Guardian living.
Excerpt:
Two nights. They had shared two nights, and she’d become like his own blood.
The netherworld protected him during his flight past a hundred moons and planets. Its only drawback was that it wasn’t oxygen rich, which meant he had to find worlds where he could breathe and re-stock that thin bubble around him. As he slipped effortlessly into gray, mist-like non-existence, his body reached out, calling to her.
Terrin.
Time Merchant and Deceiver had stared at him when he had told them he had to convince Star he loved her. Oddly, though, they didn’t seemed surprised, other than hearing him declare it. A tiny smile creased the corners of his mouth. How many of them already suspected the truth?
A tiny shimmering of color rainbowed from behind an asteroid belt circling an uninhabited planet below. The phenomena should not have been there, as the coloring faced away from any light source. Hunter felt a tug in his bones, and he dropped to check it out.
When he finally spotted her, for the span of several heartbeats he almost allowed his terror to swallow him whole. She was lying sprawled inside one of the million craters spotting the back of the largest asteroid. Motionless, there was no sign of breathing, no sign of life coming from her.
Hunter drew closer. The asteroid had no atmosphere. If he left the void, he would die almost instantly, but definitely, and with extreme agony in the airlessness of space.
A tremor ran through her, and her eyes flew open. Her mouth formed a single word.
No!
He watched as she painfully got to her feet, and at that moment it hit him. She could feel him. She could tell he was there, as surely as he could sense her. How, he couldn’t begin to understand, but the knowledge gave him both a sense of security while at the same time it also posed a problem. How would he be able to approach her if she could "see" him coming?
Star was weak. The star-like pattern on her body suit barely moved. Her face was pale. Wane. Her violet eyes were enormous saucers.
Taking the risk, Hunter coalesced for less than a fraction of a second before retreating back into the void. But it was enough time to drop the earpiece in front of her.
Star saw the tiny communications device materialize near the toe of her boot, as if by magic. Long moments passed as she stared at it, warring with her emotions. Fighting with her need to hear his voice, even though she knew that if she relented and put it on, all that she had accomplished thus far would not matter anymore.
Hunter watched her body tremble as he softly urged her to "-pick it up, my love. Please. Please. Take it and put it on. Let me talk to you. Let me tell you how this flight is going to kill us, but I don’t care. I don’t care anymore, not as long as I’m with you. Not as long as the last thing I ever see is your beautiful face. Pick up the earpiece, Terrin. Please."
She bent to retrieve the earpiece, and Hunter finally knew her love for him was greater than her worse fears and despair. He waited for her to slip it on. Waited for her to speak first.
"I know you’re there. I can feel you. You’re so damn close." Her voice was a ghost. She was past exhaustion, as was he.
"Terrin."
At the sound of her name, Star almost convulsed, tightly shutting her eyes as she clenched her fists in front of her.
"I can’t ... I can’t take any more, Udo," she told him. Her confession sounded thin and far away in the vacuum of space. "Why won’t you let me go?"
"Because if I do, I will lose what’s left of my sanity. I love you, Terrin. So much, that if I have to follow you for the rest of my days, I’ll do so without any reservation. I can’t let you go. I never will."
****
An OUTSTANDING READ from Simply Romance Reviews
HeartFast was not just a satisfying romance, it was also a mind-teasing mystery and science fiction read as well. Visual imagery was well written, and the mystery surrounding the unsanctioned handfast skillfully told. While I can usually figure out what's coming, this story kept me guessing to the end.
Emotionally conveyed, StarLight and Master Hunter's story was equally touching, painful and poignant to read. I look forward to further stories in this new series.

Sweet, Sassy, and Sexy Raffle

Please Spread the Word:

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Contact: Rochelle Sorzano
Charity Co-Coordinator
2055 Utica Ave
Brooklyn, NY 11234
Phone: 347-221-0260
http://www.treasuretrovecharity.com/

Our Goal for the Sweet, Sassy, and Sexy Raffle is to get at least 5,000 donations at $20 .00 each. We are fully aware of the current financial climate and understand that $20 is a lot to ask of you. What we are asking is that you give in the spirit of giving. The three causes, St. Jude's Children's Hospital, The 3 Day. Org (Cure for Cancer) and Save the Quiet Kitty are worthy causes. The whole purpose is to help others, we ask that you take part in this endeavor and help us help others.

Simply Simone Inc and the Pink Chair Dairies Presents the Treasure Trove Charity Raffle, each prize is worth an estimated $400.00 and counting. This idea came about when my friend and co-coordinator Author Selena Illyria approached me with an idea to help fellow author and friend The Quiet Kitty/Camille Anthony who was diagnosed in 1989 with Pulmonary Sarcoidosis, caused by exposure to asbestos while an employee of the State of California. (There is a pending class action lawsuit against the State of California, which has been in Pre-Trial hearings for almost a decade.) Camille is now a full time author with no health insurance. She is in stage four of Pulmonary Sarcoidosis and cannot get health insurance because of this pre-existing condition.

I loved the idea and wanted to help as much as possible; And, I thought we should extend it to include a couple of my other favorite charities. Breast Cancer is a concern for all of us and it will take all of us to help find a cure. In addition, St. Jude, when I first heard the story of how the Hospital came to be it struck a chord with me. Moreover, I always promised myself that if I can ever support them with the wonderful work they do I would.

My very talented friend Selena Illyria came up with the Sweet, Sassy, Sexy Charity Raffle, a nod to the cheeky erotic stories she and fellow authors pen. We thought this would be a fun way to give back to those who are generous enough to donate to our charity. We called on all of our writer friends from all over the romance world to donate to these worthy causes, and to my delight, it just kept growing and growing. Until each trunk is now worth over $400.00 and counting.

You can also help us help others, by donating at www.treasuretrovecharity.com and selecting the trunk of your choice and then clicking the donate button. Each theme will represent a charity and at the end, we will share 60% of all net profits equally to the charities.

Rules: There is unlimited bidding until the time the raffle comes to a closed.

Sweet Trunk :

Sassy Trunk:

Sexy Trunk :

Please Note:

60% net of the proceeds goes to the above-mentioned charities.

On the local front

So, I haven't decided if this is going to be a weekly, monthly or when I can get around to it kind of thing, but I've decided, thanks to the really bad restaurant I went to with the hubster last week, and another in a local town that I'm going to do an "about town" kind of local thing.

Just to let you know, I live in Central Texas, with some really awesome places to visit, sightsee and in general have good family or alone time. There's also some that should be avoided. I'm not going to be spiteful. This is my blog. I will be honest about what I tell, but it will also be just my experience. My opinion. I am allowed to have that until such time as the government just rewrites the constitution. Hopefully we have some time before that happens. *snicker* Yeah, that's a crack at political correctness. Deal with it. My first report should be up before too long. That's Southern for "I'll get it done when I can". LOL

Hope you'll check it out.

C'ya!

A first picture

Just thought I'd share... the first picture of my first print book. I already have one shelved for me.

So when you gonna get yours? J/K, not that I'd complain

This Week: In Diana's Head

This weekend has been a myriad of ups and downs.

I received the release for my first Diana DeRicci book. Yay!

I had constant program issues while trying to do the video for it. Boo!

Then Sunday I had another issue. And it wasn't pretty.

Do you know when you're in an abusive relationship? Do you know the signs?

Do you feel demoralized?
Degraded?
Threatened?
Rushed and harried because of someone else's emergency?
Made to feel guilt, or blamed for things out of your control?

Makes it sound personal, doesn't it? Well have no fear. This one isn't personal. It's actually a professional relationship I am discussing. One between a person and an organization. I got to witness this and personally, it made me sick to know that a company would stoop to this level

It could be any kind of business, employee to employer, but the same still stands. It is abuse. Whether by email, phone call, conversation or letter, tone can be used to inflict abuse. That's another avenue some people use to bully the people around them into doing what they want.

Did you know you don't have to take that? From any source? Mutual respect is earned, not demanded like a mocha grande. Degradation is running rampant because the unemotional basis of the internet gives us a means to create it.

Look, I could jump off the interstate bridge and try to fly, but it doesn't mean I'm going to. I have the sense to not lie, cheat or steal. Just because you can, doesn't mean you should. We could all kill the person next to us. We're all physically capable. Emotionally too in some cases, but it doesn't mean we should. There's some part of humanity that is disappearing because of the internet and the abundance of e-business. The bottom line. Be respectful to those you meet anywhere, in real life or on line. Being abusive on line is still abuse, no matter what your title, name or country origin is.

*puts soapbox back in the closet*

This Week: In Diana's Head

ist1_6135370-heart-in-the-brain Yesterday was the official release of my first print book, THE ETERNAL KISS. It's on Amazon, Barnes & Noble and available for order from pretty much every book store out there. That is just soooo cool. It should be available at book stores on the east coast, but I don't know which ones. So if you don't see it, just ask for it.

I have a lot on my plate, per the usual. I did the synopsis on the agent book yesterday and have not quite a third to write to get it done. It will be done. Period. No distractions allowed. I will persev.... Oh was that a bird?? Did you see it? *silly grin*

Then this morning, I also saw this. And this cracked me up. If you love the almighty Post-it note, you're gonna love this. It is so worth it.

To my south Texas friends

image019 Hurricane Ike. Yeah, if you live around the Gulf, you know that name. He's due to hit today. We'll get some rain but we're pretty far inland. It won't be too bad overall.

No, he's not Katrina, but he's a close relative. Nasty, blustery and full of himself.

Hannah just finished her eastern seaboard tour. Gave New York some serious issues there for a day or two.

Storms this bad have been plentiful and we still have two and a half months to get through in the season. It runs July-November, but that's ballpark. As we know, the hurricane season doesn't follow a calendar, or mark off appointments...

"Let's see, I have a Tuesday date with Florida, then an all nighter in Louisiana. Oh! If I pick up steam, I can hit Texas with a real wave!"

Um, yeah, they don't do that, but they do cause a lot of havoc.

So I just wanted to wish the folks in the path, those about to be drenched, to stay safe and dry if possible. I know a lot Houston has been told to batten the hatches and stay put to avoid the massive gridlock that happened a few years ago when Rita hit.

To all my friends, I'll be thinking of you. Take care.

IMPORTANT! Signing Schedule Change

The Saturday 13th signing for myself and my friends has been rescheduled due to Hurricane Ike.

The signing has been booked for October 4th, 2p. I will update again as we get closer.

If you are in the area and can make it for a few minutes, I will be at the store for a short while on Saturday, but the group signing has been bumped.

Thanks for your understanding. Blame Ike. It's all his fault.

A special (concerned) note

To all my readers and readers everywhere:

Technology is an incredible medium. We can read, draw, learn, speak and see so much thanks to the advances of modern technology. The basic computer and keyboard. However, in the instance of authors, it's also becoming a means to lose our very livelihood. We write, and those written words are being stolen. By the billions, if not trillions, of words. This has been happening for years and is a growing concern. A hugely growing concern.

There is no excuse for theft, yet pirate sites are appearing out of the blue like any other source of information. They may be innocuous to start, but once the first book is posted, uploaded, downloaded, read, it is done. That author has lost revenue. And not just the author, but every person in the production chain. Just because it is on a site, does not make it legal. Car theft, identity theft, downloading copyrighted material. They are equal. They are all theft. (Public domain books [Shakespeare etc.] are a different explanation.)

Please purchase books only through reputable stores and sites. If you see any book from any author on a forum, a database, or a sharing site, please do not download that book. Report the site to the author directly. Most authors have free reads, full books, chapters, all sorts of reading material readily available to the public. Many run contests, or give away free reads. Almost any book can be found in a library, a bookstore or through a used bookstore.

Theft is still theft, no matter the excuse. Respect any author's right to earn a living.

A special note:

E-piracy hurts writers
and is punishable by a $250,000 fine and up
to five years in jail.
Please don't do
business with e-pirates
for both of our sakes.
