A small interruption in our daily lives
Okay, so I tried this thing with Facebook, to combine pages because it was hard to keep up on two pages. Didn't work so well. So I'm trying something with the hopes that it will be like wiping the slate clean for my email and I can go back in and recreate like I'd never been.
What does this mean?
Not a whole lot at the moment. I AM still there only it's just a holding page under my DeRicci email with my name all over it. I'm not going to be using it and will (if this works) be purging that one too.
So, for the next two weeks (14 days to purge--sounds like a really bad grapefruit diet to me) I'll be very quiet on FB waiting for this all to happen. Though I hope if this works, you'll come join me, ask me to be your friend (Facebook limits requests so there's no "abuse" How little they know I only want my listed friends. Not my fault I actually know that many people from all over online! *grin*) In doing this little experiment, I lost over 3,000 "friend" contacts, many of them I DO know, so don't leave me friendless. And keep your fingers crossed that this actually works.

A few updates
What am I guilty of?
Completely ignoring my blog. I'm sorry. *facepalm* No, I'm not one of those who loves to share tons of personal doings. Seriously? You want to hear about my bi-weekly trip to the grocery store? Yeeeaaah. I thought not. And other than writing and not going crazy when my child begins to whine that he's booorred and there's no one to plaaaay with, while I count days to the beginning of school, (One week and counting), there just isn't that much to blog about in my corner of the universe. The house is still standing, the husband is still working and I'm still writing. That's the lump sum. Frightening, I know. LOL
Luckily, a couple of good things are happening or coming that I want to share. Firstly, Unbound Trust will be available for purchase (and signing!) at Authors After Dark in September, as will His Redeemer's Kiss. I'm glad to finally have that one coming to my hot little (little is a refernce, folks) hands. LOL (If you're not going, I will have copies of both here, that you can order direct, signed and shipped. Visit this link for the details.)
Also, coming August 18th, this week, is the final installment of Aiza Shifter Clan quad series. Trust Revealed will be on All Romance Ebooks, and in fact is there now, available for pre-order. Want it as soon as it goes live? Go ahead and request it now. Then... Now... Tomayto, Tomahto. LOL
I've also decided to put a test title on Kindle. It'll be a re-release of one of my early contracted books, with a new cover. I'll keep updates on that as well. I have pages on Amazon, and books available on Kindle or in print already, so if you miss it here, just check there every now and then for changes.

This Week: In Diana's Head
Essentially this is a maintained turn of the century (1900's, not 2000 LOL) running farm. They live and educate on that farm as if it were 1895. No electricity. No running water. Gardening and canning, and a lot of things that were interesting. The kids got to check out the chicken coop and I know there were goats somewhere. LOL
There is also a small museum dedicated to Lyndon B. Johnson. In fact, if you hike (not far) to the rear of the farm, you can see LBJ's original homestead across the Pedernales River.
We were a little rushed so we didn't get to see the soap making, or the horseshoeing, but Ms. Beth was making a handmade sewn shirt on her crank Singer. Yep, you read that right. It was a cranked by hand sewing machine. There was also a Sears cataloge from 1908 on one of the tables.
If you ever get the chance to visit one of these living history locations, I highly recommend it. It's a fun trip for the family and can even be *gasp* highly educational. LOL

This Week: In Diana's head
Nah... No stress at all.
I wish I had something witty to share this week, but unfortunatly, it's just not happening. We bought a new mattress yesterday, and for the first time in YEARS, I had near nightmares all night long. One long movie-style slasher flick. Yeah, that makes me tons of fun in the morning. Doubt it was the mattress, just too much stress culminating in some really, really, weird happenings.
That being said, go forward today with this thought:
We would accomplish many more things if we did not think of them as impossible.

Teazr Newsletter Vol. 1
authors out there, that means you can fwd it on to your fans if you
want. Editors and other staff, you can print if off (sorry about it
being 6 pages long...I got carried away) and leave a couple copies at
your local second-hand book store, at your other jobs, where ever you
want. Like I said, it's open to ANYONE. And if all this happens to
have the little side-effect of spreading the word about Tease, its
authors and the books they've written, well that would just be a
happy coincidence now wouldn't it? LOL!
Volume 1 is in the files section. Take a look. Eventually it will be
going out as an actual email. But until I figure out how to make my
program obey me, PDF (courtesy of Cara, thanks girl!) will certainly
work.
If anyone has questions, suggestions, news to share...whatever, you
can email me.

Crowning A Warrior King
Crowning A Warrior King!
Life has been calm and quiet for Aran for almost seven years since moving into Banter. She is a prosperous business owner, has friends, and helps those in need without question. Yet a delivery of a mysterious jewel encrusted box changes all of that for her in an instant.
Not only is the mysterious box enchanted, revealing someone knows of her deepest secrets, it imprisons a man unlike any other. Bold, fearsome, strong. A warrior from a place she's never heard of, a land she's never known. And the most glaring fact to his arrival is she is the only one with the knowledge to set him free, with a magic he cannot trust.
Rordan must return to the kingdom of Eglandor to stop the wicked sorceress who has imprisoned him, deliver the throne to King Tah-lel's appointed heir, and fulfill his destiny with the woman from another time, another world. And there's only so much time to do it all with the King's health failing and an uprising from within only waiting for the moment to claim the throne.
Coming this summer! Watch the website for updates!

The Eternal Kiss is on Fictionwise!!!
Oh my god!! It's there! It's finally there!!! Wooohoooo! And it's on sale!!!
Diego Viteri has lived for centuries with only one real goal, to avenge himself against the one who destroyed the man that he was and created the creature he is now. He is suffering a growing loneliness that is becoming impossible to ignore. His only reason for not ending his life is to see that Brakka is served his justice and then, Diego can rest.
The last thing he is expecting is to have an encounter with a human woman who is willing to jump between himself and Brakka during a harsh and bloody battle. Their one meeting changes everything for Diego, bringing to life emotions and wants that he has long believed to be as dead as he is.
As he follows Titania and her band, his needs reshape into something that he can’t ignore. Before he knows what he has done, he bonds with her and sets into motion the very thing he swore he would never do to another person. He has shared his curse and in the process may have very well killed her. And there is only one choice to be made to try to save her.
Go check it out here!!
Pssst.. I'll be posting a contest soon for the print release so check back often.

*sigh* I'm waffling
See, I have a dilemma. I have two books that I want to finish out of a pile of about six that I could finish. One is a fantasy, a full length, lush fantasy romance. Dragon guadians, planes (worlds, not the flying kind), sarcastic unicorns. The list could go on.
Then I have my *In a deep male voice-over affect* AGENT BOOK. Yeah, the one I've only been working on for the last two years. A shifter story that is intricate, and likely only the first to a strong series if I can ever get it done, and done well. It could be my ticket to an agent, and a NY publisher. Could be because even though I feel good about the book and the premise, I'm still realistic.
The thing is, there's a cover I wantwantwant for the fantasy. It's gorgeous. I want it. I mean I WANT IT! And he has to be done by October if I plan to get it. It is a work of art, simply stunning.
But then there's the agent book.
But then there's the fantasy.
They both have qualities to say which one should be first. Let's not even toss the edits I have into the barrel, but I guess in all fairness, we must. I have three books in different stages of edits right now. So they're distracting me. And the books I want to write are distracting me from the editing I need to do.
So I'm waffling. And I don't even get to play in the syrup. :(
What would you guys like to see? A fantasy romance with a sexy dragon guardian, or a shifter paranormal with certain twists that are NOT the norm?

This week: In Diana's Head
I had to bite the bullet and use an online calendar. I don't keep any program open enough for one to be really effective, except for Google. My schedule has been and will be nuts for the next several weeks. I'm participating in two Scavenger Hunts (TwoLipsReviews and Forbidden Publications) at the end of the month, and I'm going to do two anniversary parties, (Tease Publishing and Brenda Williamson) and then I have my regular chat schedule. Want to catch up with me? Check out the appearances page on my website. I keep that up to date. Stop laughing! I do! LOL
The good news of the week is the booking I've been postponing until I had confirmation of my book being on schedule is now set. THE ETERNAL KISS
will be available as of September 15th, and I'll be doing a signing for this debut book here in San Marcos. I'll also be running a contest at the beginning of the month to help celebrate this release. The best thing to do is watch here for the announcement.
If you want the insider information, you can also join my newsletter http://groups.yahoo.com/group/dianacastilleja This is a newsletter and announcement loop only. No spam, no Kielbasa either. ;) Yum... Kielbasa. Had that for dinner. :)
One more tidbit of good news... Tease Publishing has showed interest in a few more of my stories, but because of my current schedule with them, they will not be seen out again until 2010. I know. I'm sad about it too! So it's a bittersweet report. But that does mean that I will have a full roster with them for 2009. Like I said, bittersweet.
So that's the scoop for this week. Catch ya' soon!

This week: In Diana's Head
This week, I feel as though I have failed. The situation doesn't really matter. It's just the knowledge that somewhere along the line, I fell. I didn't get the answer right. I missed the bus. I failed.I know it's all in my head, thus the title. How often do we try, work, sweat, cry and still not reach the finish line? Still not get that raise? Still get the answer wrong no matter how many times we study?
That has been my week.
I'm trying to get above it. Trying to see that my choices were not wrong. They affect no one else (in this case, at least, Thank goodness!). I've admitted my mistakes, admitted to a lot of things, but I'm still wrong. Just how does that work? When does the failure go away? Does it ever?
I hope it does. I doubt I'll be lucky to be out from under the weight of it soon, like today. Oh, it's not an earth shattering failure. No one died. I think time is equal to the amount of blame we put on ourselves. In this situation, I'm totally to blame. I failed and it's my fault. I get that. So I'm just going to be morose for a day or so. I can work through the blame. I can work through the anger of failing. Hopefully, I'll be a happier person in a few days, because I hate feeling like a failure.

Do you fixate on characters?
When you read? When you write (if you do)?
A friend's post this morning made me wonder. It's not the first time I'd heard of getting attached to characters. I've read posts from other writers who felt strongly attached and cried when their characters died or killed. I haven't had that in particular happen, but I can relate. I do have my favorite characters. I have had the emotions get so strong in certain stories that they make me cry, but I can cry at the drop of a dime. It's sad sometimes how easy it is. It's also a bit annoying. I've also seen where readers get almost fanatical about characters in the books. Not just empathizing with them, but wanting them, or worse, feeling they own the character--if they'd existed.
In my reading, I don't have a particularly strong favorite, but I do like Dayan and Darius from Feehan's Dark Series. I also have a Shifter in one of my own books, Morgan, that is like the ultimate crush. I'm not so keen on heroines. Not really sure I'm reading about the women most of the time. LOL
So what about you guys? Any favs that knock your socks off? Anyone you'd ditch the SO for? LOL Hypothetically of course. *wink*

My Muse... anyone seen her?
The hubster is on vacation. He goes back to work tomorrow. It's been nice having him home. We did a few day trips while he was on vacation this time. Took the boy fishing, went to Fredericksburg and just basically lazed. It is summer after all.
But the problem is, I don't think my muse likes when he's home all day. When he's at work, I can sometimes write, but then she shuts up from when he gets home in the evening until bedtime and I try to write for a bit before I pass out myself. When he's at home, she falls off the planet. It doesn't help that he comes and reads over my shoulder. Officially this doesn't bother me. It depends on the content. He has this talent of coming in when I'm writing sex, regardless of how hot. How does he do that? The boy does it too, which doubles the challenge. *sigh*
My muse and I actually have a great relationship. Her name's Olivia, she's a bit of a spoiled goddess, but she's kind of cool too. I mean, how many five foot ten dark blondes do you know who wear a toga to the "office" and can lounge on a floating lounger looking thing with an ottoman and not be worried about her feet look in strappy sandals? Yeah. Me neither.
But right now she's not really around. I'm hoping she comes back when the man goes back to work tomorrow.
